Weakness as Style
Shards:
Your weaknesses will become your strengths.
Heard this from a painter on the podcast this week. Filed it immediately under “things I needed to hear right now.”
Why is starting always the hardest part? Eric J. Drummond trained for years in classical realism in Florence — technically one of the most rigorous art educations you can get — and still talks about the warmup rituals, the pencil sharpening, the clearing of distractions as a non-negotiable part of the process.
As it turns out discipline and resistance might feel like opposites, but they can travel together.
War with Art
Latest episode is up — Weakness as Style with Eric J. Drummond, Part 1. Figurative painter, Florence Academy trained, teacher of our own co-host Eric Vedder. It gets personal and philosophical in roughly equal measure. Part 2 this week.
What’s Next
After a 2 year layoff, I’ll be at Toronto Comic Con next weekend at the signing table with Raid Press. Come say hi if you’re there.
More coming on the Aardehn front soon!
